Monster Aquarium Pattaya Description
Despite its rather ramshackled exterior, Monster Aquarium Pattaya is a great day out for all the family. The attraction incorporates an aquarium, reptile terrarium, and petting zoo, and houses a large range of species, including a few rare animals. Highlights include a two headed turtle and an absolutely huge Alligator Snapping Turtle.
Once you pay at the ticket office, you enter a large hall with a number of food vendors to the left and to the right, various large tanks and stations. Here you can feed the fish, turtles and have your picture taken with various reptiles and birds of prey. The highlight of this section was definitely the extremely rare two headed turtle on display.
The outdoor section of Monster Aquarium is a small petting zoo, with ponies, sheep and rabbits etc, which provides some entertainment for the children. Perhaps the best part of this area is a small aviary filled with exotic birds, upon entry you are given a syringe full of nectar which the birds will flock too and literally hang on to your shirt whilst they feed.
The aquarium itself has numerous species of, mainly fresh water fish, such as various types of large Catfish, Alligator Gars, and numerous smaller species. At one stage, the aquarium passes through a glass tunnel so you can experience the fish swimming all around you. One of the tanks contains an impressive looking Snapping Turtle, the low wall makes around the tank makes it easy to peer over the top to get an aerial view to gain a true idea of the sheer size of the thing.
Monster Aquarium Price & Entry
My only real gripe about the monster aquarium is the dual price for Tourists and Residents, luckily my wife had her work permit on her so we paid the resident price.
